Formal Signing in Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY, ON – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superintendent Ron van Straalen, Regional Commander-North West Region and Police Chief Claude Chum – Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) participated in the formal signing of an operational agreement between their respective police services this date.
The operational agreement, which replaces expired protocol agreements, provides the framework for effective, efficient and culturally appropriate policing in a manner consistent with First Nation values, traditions, customs and culture.
Both police agencies are committed to enhancing policing excellence by continuing to build upon the current relationships and joint initiatives to the benefit of all residents of North West Region.
