ALERT CITIZEN ASSISTS WITH BREAK AND ENTER

NIPIGON, ON. –During the early morning hours of September 9, 2012 Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a break and enter in progress at Polly Lake Road, off of Hwy 11, North of Lake Helen.  At approximately 2:35 a.m. an alert citizen observed suspicious activity at a neighbouring camp and contacted police.  Information provided by the caller assisted police with the investigation.  Numerous camps in the area had been broken into by the suspects.  After investigation, officers located and arrested four accused for break and enter offences.

Chris HARDY, an 18 year old male of Dorion, Ontario, a 17 year old female of Ledger Township, and a 17 year old male of Nipigon, Ontario have been charged with:

  • five counts of Break and Enter to commit Theft
  • five counts of Break and Enter to commit Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 17 year old male of Nipigon, Ontario has been charged with:

  • five counts of Break and Enter to commit Theft,
  • five counts of Break and Enter to commit Mischief, and Possess Stolen Property Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused are to appear in Nipigon Court on December 11, 2012 to answer to these charges.

The accused were further charged with Provincial Offence Notices contrary to the Liquor License Act and the Forest Fire Prevention Act.
