As the campers pack up their campsites for the season with the harsh realization that another summer has come and gone, we at Crossover are preparing for our busiest time of the year- October, November and December- when all of the biggest summer Blockbusters make their debuts on DVD and Blu-Ray. So instead of sitting around the campfire, many of you may find yourselves gathered around the TV instead! The summer blockbusters start this very week, with The Avengers releasing along with a slate of ten other titles. Let’s have a look at each title in more detail;
NEW RELEASES ON DVD BLU-RAY
The Avengers: starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth – Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. brings together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from an army of villains. (Action/Sci-Fi) (DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray)
The Samaritan: starring Samuel L. Jackson – After spending 20 years in prison, a man is intent on making a fresh start. Before long, his past begins to catch up with him as he is approached by a young man with questionable intentions. (Drama/Crime) (DVD and Blu-Ray)
Take This Waltz: starring Seth Rogan and Michelle Williams – A happily married woman finds herself in a dilemma when she develops feelings for an artist who moves in across the street. (Drama/Romance) (DVD and Blu-Ray)
Soldiers of Fortune: starring Christian Slater, Ving Rhames and Sean Bean – Wealthy businessmen pay big money to have themselves inserted into simulated military adventures, only this time things don’t go exactly to plan. (Action/Thriller) (DVD)
Magic of Belle Isle: starring Morgan Freeman and Virginia Madsen – A reclusive and wheelchair bound author moves to a rural town where he befriends a mother and her 3 kids, who help reignite his passion for writing. (Comedy/Drama) (DVD and Blu-Ray)
The Tall Man: starring Jessica Biel – When her child goes missing, a desperate mother looks to unravel the legend of the Tall Man, an entity who allegedly abducts children. (Thriller/Suspense) (DVD)
Damsels in Distress: starring Greta Gerwig and Adrian Brody – Three young ladies set out to change the male-dominated environment of their college campus, and to rescue their fellow female students from depression. (Comedy/Drama) (DVD)
The Letter: starring Wynona Ryder and James Franco – A playwright who begins to mentally unravel, cannot decide if she is at the center of a manipulative plot or simply losing her grip on reality. (Drama) (DVD)
Moving Day: starring Will Sasso – A group of men must learn to work together to save their troubled moving company from failing- and to save themselves from being out of a job. (Comedy) (DVD)
388 Arletta Avenue : A young couple find themselves in the grips of a mysterious stalker who begins to harass them in their home. (Thriller) (DVD)
Vampire Dog: A boy unknowingly adopts a 600 year old talking vampire dog and soon discovers that when they face their fears they can do anything. (Family) (DVD)
FOR THE GAMERS
Wipeout 3 – Based on the hilarious TV show, and a sequel to Wipeout 1 and 2, Wipeout 3 once again takes players through obscene obstacle courses while attempting to avert flying projectiles launched at them by their opponents. Play alone, or with friends using multiplayer mode! Available for WII, Kinect and Nintendo DS and 3DS.
