NIPIGON OPP SEARCH FOR SUSPECT – UPDATE

FORT FRANCES, ON – Officers of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing their investigation into a stolen vehicle today. Police are searching for a white male, between 30 and 40 years of age, with dark curly hair. He is being sought by police for possession of stolen property and flight from police after officers confirmed that the vehicle he was operating had been stolen from Alberta, with licence plates stolen from Dryden area.

OPP North West Region Emergency Response Team with the assistance of the Thunder Bay Police Canine Unit have conducted a ground search in the vicinity of where the unoccupied vehicle was located in Patience Township. That search has been concluded by members of the ERT Team and Nipigon detachment members continue their local search and patrols as the wanted person remains outstanding. Police believe that the suspect may have left the area or been unknowingly assisted by a passing motorist.

Officers are working with residents in that area and community partners to ensure they are aware of the ongoing investigation are continuing to patrol the area.
