MANITOUWADGE, ON – Seeing young individuals take control in a positive way is always endearing to adults.  That was evident during Anti-Bullying week at MPS.  Our Student Council members were in charge of a whole-school event each day of the week that began with their morning  nnouncement informing their fellow school-mates of events for that particular day.

Among the ways Manitouwadge Public School student council members organized for their school mates to recognize anti-bullying were:

  • a poem, authored by a Student Council member, entitled ‘I Will’ was shared with the school
  • ‘Say Something Nice Day’.
  • making pink hands with anti-bullying related comments to put on a tree in the hallway
  • anti-bullying ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ game with Madame Aguiar at lunchtime.

–       and what better way to end a perfect week than with cupcakes with pink icing for the whole school!

Students anstaff wore pink, the official colour of Anti-Bullying, throughout the week.   Thursday morning two representatives from North of Superior Programs (NOSP) presented a fun-filled anti-bullying workshop with all the students in our gym. During the afternoon MPS students and staff were excited to have a representative from the OPP visit each classroom with a presentation geared towards anti-bullying.

Once again it has been an encouraging week at MPS watching our students become so passionately involved in this national Anti-Bullying campaign.
