Kim Stockwood and Kevin Fox Kick-off Northern Ontario Tour in Manitouwadge

Award-winning singer-songwriter Kim Stockwood, along with acclaimed cellist, vocalist and songwriter Kevin Fox will treat audiences to their enchanting compilations as they kick off their Northern Ontario tour at the Manitouwadge Highschool Auditorium on Thursday November 22, at 7:00pm.

Kim Stockwood’s amazing talent and versatility have kept her in the public eye for over a decade.  An accomplished artist, she has numerous Juno and ECMA awards to her credit and has penned such smash hits as Jerk, 12 Years Old and Happy Baby, both as a solo artist and with supergroup Shaye.  Her winning personality makes her a natural for television and radio – from co-hosting the Junos to a stint as co-host on one of Toronto’s top morning shows.  As irresistible live as she is on radio and camera, Kim performs with effortless ease on the concert stage, with a natural ability to touch and entertain her audience.

Stockwood’s musical journey began in earnest in 1995 with the release of her first album Bonavista.  The album’s song Jerk, written by Stockwood and longtime writing partner Naoise Sheridan, became her breakthrough hit both in Canada and internationally, setting the stage for the next 10 years of her country/rock/pop-flavoured recordings.  In recent years, when Kim was contemplating where her music career was going and what kind of project she would do next, she decided to take her music back to her Newfoundland roots.  The product was her album Back to the Water, which picked up an East Coast Music Award for Roots/Traditional album of the year 2012.

“Her singing is as vivid as the outcast kid slouching through the song Little Margaret – Stockwood knows that even good stories require a good storyteller. With a lovely voice and snapshot lyrics, she delivers both.”Now Magazine.

Sharing the stage with Kim is Kevin Fox.  If you have come in contact with Canadian music at all over the last number of years, chances are you have either seen or heard the work of this talented Halifax native.  Kevin’s abilities as an instrumentalist, singer, composer/arranger, performer and songwriter have seen him working with numerous artists in a variety of capacities throughout the years.  He has composed arrangements for the likes of Justin Bieber and Kathleen Edwards, he has recorded with artists as diverse as Raine Maida and Celine Dion, and he has toured extensively with musicians ranging from Chantal Kreviazuk and Steven Page to Tom Cochrane and Olivia Newton-John.  His work has been featured on American television programming such as Baywatch Hawaii and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and has received radio airplay across Canada and the United States.  Kevin was nominated for Musician of the Year (2011) by Music Nova Scotia and recipient of the Touring Artist of the Year Award (2011) by Atlantic Presenters Association.

“A cellist and guitarist of rare talent…his voice soars like an angel.”Toronto Star.

As a solo performer, Kevin’s 2004 debut release ‘Come Alive’ was followed in 2008 by the stunning ‘Songs for Cello and Voice’ and then in 2011 by ‘Set Right’. Kevin combines his signature instrument, the cello, which he skillfully bows, plucks, taps and loops, with his charismatic voice, to create a unique and captivating musical tapestry of cello-driven folk/pop. As NOW magazine wrote of his solo performances: ‘Hot ticket – a must see show!’
