MGH Receives Highest Level of Recognition from Accreditation Canada

The Manitouwadge General Hospital is very pleased to report that Accreditation Canada has awarded the facility with its highest level of recognition; Accreditation with Exemplary Standing.  In a November 14 letter to CEO Jocelyn Bourgoin, Suzanne Larocque, Chair of the Accreditation Decision Committee wrote;

“Congratulations! This achievement demonstrates your organization’s determination and commitment to ongoing quality improvement. We applaud your leadership, staff, and accreditation team members for their efforts and dedication to the provision of safe, quality health services.”

There are 4 levels of accreditation in Canada:

Accredited with Exemplary Standing: The organization attains the highest level of performance, achieving excellence in meeting the requirements of the accreditation program.

Accredited with Commendation: The organization surpasses the fundamental requirements of the accreditation program.

Accredited: The organization succeeds in meeting the fundamental requirements of the accreditation program.

Not Accredited: The organization needs to make significant improvements to meet the requirements of the accreditation program.

Barbara Olson, Chair of the Manitouwadge General Hospital Board was pleased with the final outcome of the review.  “We knew we had a good accreditation review, but to receive the highest possible standing as the final decision is a true reflection of all the people who make our Hospital such an excellent facility”.

The team who led the process was all smiles when news of the results were received.  Debbie Hardy, Teresa Malakoff and Susan Schelle-MacGregor were key in ensuring each hospital department met the Required Operational Practices.  Their hard work has now been validated.
