TAKE BACK YOUR DRUGS – This Weekend in Nipigon, Schreiber, Marathon, Manitouwadge & Greenstone

“Engaged Communities Prevent Crime” Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers  and the OPP

Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers and your local Pharmacy will be hosting new initiative called Take Back Your Drugs.

The goal of this project is to have citizens clean out their medicine cabinet, dresser drawers and cupboards of old and unwanted prescription drugs, especially narcotics and drop them off at your local pharmacy where they can be properly disposed.

Regularly people are prescribed pain medication for illnesses and injury and when they no longer need to take these medications, they just keep them stored in various places in the home.

During a break and enter, thieves are looking for narcotics for their own personal use or to sell on the streets.  We are also aware that medicine cabinets are regularly searched by visitors to homes and we want to encourage people to ensure that they are keep these medications out of the hands of individuals that are not using them for a lawful purpose.
