NIPIGON, ON – The Nipigon Blueberry Blast Committee completed their 2012 marketing campaign on November 30th with the final installation of their new highway signs.  The Committee, through a Local Initiatives Contribution Grant and assistance from the Township of Nipigon, was able to secure three locations on the highways leading into Nipigon and have three signs manufactured and installed.

This project was made possible by a Superior North CFDC Local Initiatives Contribution.  The Local Initiatives Program is funded by FedNor.

The Township of Nipigon’s new brand promise of “A Natural Edge” incorporates the essential natural element that exists within the community. The community’s past ‘nature’ with its modern future ‘edge’ communicates the fun, active and adventurous personality elements of Nipigon, all of which were incorporated into the graphic design of the sign to compliment and serve as a secondary message for the Township.

The new highway signs are located on Highway 17 east, Highway 11 north and Highway 11/17 west of the community.  The blueberry artwork on the signs was provided by local teacher and artist Colleen Rose.  A date finger board will be added to the sign each year identifying the weekend that the Annual Blueberry Blast Festival takes place.

The addition of this new marketing tool for the Nipigon Blueberry Blast Committee will enhance and broaden the reach of this important annual event, which attracts visitors to the community to participate in the Festival, to visit the communities many other attractions and enjoy the warmth and hospitality of Nipigon.
