MALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING IN MARATHON

MARATHON ON – Sunday January 13, 2013 approximately 1:10 am, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment observed a vehicle parked beside a local tavern idling with the running lights on. A lone male occupant was seated in the driver’s seat with an open beer in the middle console.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that he had consumed alcohol and was exhibiting signs of impairment.  David Samuel RAWE, 47, from Lillooet BC was charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and Over 80.  The accused was suspended from driving for 90 days and released from custody. He is to appear in Marathon Criminal Court on February 27, 2013.

The public is encouraged to call 911 or contact police at 1-800-310-1122 whenever suspecting that a driver is impaired while operating a motor vehicle whether it is a Car, Truck, Motorcycle, ATV, Snowmobile, Boat or even an Airplane.
