NIPIGON OPP CHARGE SUBJECT OF A TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

NIPIGON, ON – January 9, 2013 at 3:35 p.m. officers of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a traffic complaint at Hwy 11/17, Township of Lyon.  The driver of an east bound tractor trailer unit called 911 to report the driver of a pick-up truck that had passed his unit was driving in an unsafe manner and making threatening gestures.

Nipigon officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle a short time later in the Town of Nipigon.  After investigation the male driver was arrested and taken into police custody without incident.  A search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating illegal drugs.

The 20 year old male driver, Chase TREMBLAY of Stirling Township, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon,
  • Failing to Comply with an Undertaking or Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code,
  • Possession of Marijuana under 30 grams
  • Possession of Other Drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

TREMBLAY remains in custody and has a next court appearance in Thunder Bay on January 11, 2013 to answer to these charges.
