MANITOUWADGE, ON– Sunday, February 17th, would-be lumberjacks in Manitouwadge were joined by a sizable crowd at the Kiwissa Ski Centre parking lot for an afternoon of face-offs in a variety of logging-themed challenges including the axe throw, log throw and timed buck saw competitions organized by B&M Hauling Ltd.
Connie Hunter hosted the event which accepted entrants prior to each individual challenge, a bonus for those who might have originally attended as observers but found themselves inspired by the competitors. Among those who seemed to be ‘inspired to join’ as they watched were Shawna Patterson and her mother-in-law Louise Baran. The ladies ensured the co-ed competition, in which men and women competed together for all 5 challenges, would not be dominated by the men when they claimed 3rd and 2nd place respectively in the axe throw competition. Great job ladies!
