Few movie franchises have enjoyed the longevity and success as James Bond. Sean Connery was the first actor to play the now famous character in Dr.No, the first movie of the franchise which debuted in 1962. Connery would go on to portray Bond in a number of movies ranging from the 60’s to the 80’s. Other actors like Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan have all portrayed Bond- a role that is now held by Daniel Craig who stars in the latest installment of the franchise- Skyfall. It is a busy week with fourteen new movies in total to choose from! Here is a brief summary of each title;

NEW RELEASES DVD & BLU-RAY

Skyfall: starring Daniel Craig and Judi Dench– Presumed dead, Bond emerges from hiding after his headquarters are attacked by a criminal mastermind who is targeting M. Man with the Iron Fists: starring Russell Crowe– After it is reported that gold and treasures are abundant in a small Chinese village, a band of warriors, assassins, and a rogue British soldier descend upon the village where a humble blacksmith looks to defend himself and his fellow citizens. Silent Hill Revelations: starring Sean Bean– After her father disappears, a woman is drawn into a strange and terrifying alternate reality that holds answers to the horrific nightmares that have plagued her since childhood. Perks of Being a Wallflower: starring Logan Lerman– A shy and outcast high school freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors who accept him for who he is. (Drama) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Bully: A shocking and sometimes heart wrenching documentary about the issues of bullying in schools across America. (Documentary) (DVD)

Dinosaur Project: A team of explorers stumble upon a colony of dinosaurs deep in the jungles of Congo. (Adventure/Sci-Fi) (DVD)

Eye of the Storm: starring Geoffrey Rush and Charlotte Rampling– Elizabeth Hunter controls virtually everything in her life – society, her staff, her children; but now she is faced with her most defiant act as she chooses her time to die. (Drama) (DVD)

Inescapable: starring Joshua Jackson and Marissa Tomei– A man travels to the Middle East and recruits the help of an employee at the Canadian embassy after his daughter goes missing in Syria. (Thriller) (DVD)

Liability: starring Tim Roth– When a young man agrees to do a day’s driving for his mothers gangster boyfriend, he enters a 24-hour whirlwind journey into a world of murder, sex trafficking and revenge. (Action) (DVD)

The Sessions: starring Helen Hunt and John Hawkes- A man in an iron lung contacts a sex surrogate in hopes of losing his virginity before he passes away. (Drama) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

So Undercover: starring Miley Cyrus and Jeremy Piven– A tough, street-smart private eye is hired by the FBI to go undercover in a college sorority. (Comedy) (DVD)

That’s What She Said: starring Anne Heche– Two best friends with relationship problems embark on an adventure to New York where they hope to change their misfortunes. (Comedy) (DVD)

Yelling to the Sky: As her family falls apart, a young woman is left to fend for herself in a dangerous neighborhood where her survival is uncertain. (Drama) (DVD)

You May Not Kiss the Bride: starring Katharine McPhee– An unassuming pet photographer is thrust into a series of misadventures after he’s forced to marry a stranger and spend his honeymoon at a remote tropical resort where his new bride is kidnapped. (Comedy) (DVD
