Terrace Bay Waterfront Study

Terrace Bay has been known for its many beautiful beaches for years, and the Municipality wants to further enhance those areas. The consulting group – The Planning Partnership was hired in November 2012 to study the feasibility of developing the Terrace Bay Beach area and recently held a variety of meetings with the public to solicit feedback. Numerous meetings were held with stakeholders including a large public forum on February 20th where 50 visitors attended. The project was presented with some initial ideas to develop the existing site with public and private opportunities including housing, overnight accommodations, a marina, and recreation facilities.  Meetings were also held with the project steering committee, government stakeholders, one-on-one requests from residents and businesses, and the Administrative staff of the Township. The Planning Partnership will now take the information and feedback into further developing the concept for the study and gathering more detailed data. As the project is further shaped, other stakeholders will be contacted for their feedback. Studying uses for the area is a part of the 2011-2014 Strategic Plan of Terrace Bay’s Council. CAO Carmelo Notarbartolo said “We are very excited about the turn out from our residents on this important issue. Our goal is to augment the existing site with amenities that will really enhance the already beautiful area that is Terrace Bay Beach”.
