TRANSPORT TRUCK DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

NIPIGON, ON – Tuesday February 12, 2013 at approximately 10:20 p.m. officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Nipigon detachment investigated a commercial motor vehicle stopped on the side of Highway 11 and 17, Township of Red Rock.  The vehicle was pulled over on the north side of the highway without any lights activated.

After speaking to the driver officers determined that he had consumed alcohol.  The male driver was given a road side screening test and registered a fail.  The driver was arrested and transported to Nipigon Detachment for further investigation.

The 50 year old male driver, Amarjeet SINGH, of Winnipeg, Manitoba has been charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content contrary to the Criminal Code.  The driver was issued a 90 day driver’s license suspension and the commercial motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.  He is to appear in Nipigon Court on April 9, 2013 to answer to the charge.
