MANITOUWADGE, ON – Wednesday, February 27 was designated as National Pink Shirt day and in the true form of Manitouwadge Public School’s typical zeal for participation, there were pink shirts working, playing and learning everywhere.

Anti-bullying awareness has been a priority in recent years as staff work to teach empathy and consideration to the students  to ensure each student feels valued for the things that make him or her unique and are respectful of themselves and those around them.  Manitouwadge Public School prides itself on being a ‘zero tolerance’ school in regards to any type of bullying.

In adition to wearing pink, students enjoyed in a variety of anti-bullying themed activities – videos, chats, etc. – in their classrooms.  There was also a free hot-dog and juice lunch, and a special treat for those who wore a pink shirt.  It was rewarding to see our students take such ‘pride’ in supporting a worthwhile character building event.

Children learn to behave appropriately by watching  the behaviour of those around them – thus our school strives to make sure our children see positive, considerate behaviour from everyone in their daily school life.
