MANITOUWADGE, ON – The Annual Children’s Festival was held at the Recreation Centre Auditorium yesterday, May 25th with all the usual games and fun.  Community Services Programmer Shawna Patterson was on hand providing face painting for those interested and as puppies, kitties and even a few mythical creatures walked away their smiles (and oh-too-cute faces) were all that was needed to judge if the children in attendance had enjoyed themselves.

Manitouwadge Public School’s Silent Auction, also being held at the Recreation Centre, helped increase traffic, as did the inclusion of the events as Pit Stops in the Amazing Walk II.

The movie unfortunately, was quite underattended, perhaps due to lack of promotion of the event which relied on a 1/2 page of informaiton sent home through the schools to get the word out.  Never the less, those who did attend were treated to a full movie theatre type experience with glow sticks and popcorn available to buy.

Featured was a canadian animated film, “Escape from Planet Earth”, released in theatres February 15, 2013 as a 3D movie (though not offered as a 3D experience at yesterday’s showing) and re-released as a widely promoted available-as-rental which perhaps added to the low attendance numbers.
