MANITOUWADGE, ON – Residents feeling dissapointed with the end of the Entertainment Series being long behind them had their wishes for a live performance granted this weekend as Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 students, from Our Lady of Lourdes Seperate School, offered 4 showings of their production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr.

Music by Alan Menken with Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice were brought to life by the young stars who performed the much loved songs of the arrabian tale adapted from the book, with additional lyrics for stage, by Jim Juigs.

Among the young actors who gave incredible performances, tbeir singing so impressive that audience members were heard debating throughout the show, whether the students were singing or lip sinking to a professional recording, were:

  • Julia Gervais as Princess Jasmine,
  • Dakota Baril as the Genie,
  • Hayleigh Narbonne as Alladin,
  • Jeremy Gervais as Jafar,
  • Stephanie Rathwell as Iago,
  • Lucas Luoma-Uhlik as Sultan Hamed, and
  • Dianna Oakley as Razoul.
These main characters could not have shined so bright were it not for the beautiful accompaniements provided by the entire cast, most of which also danced during many scenes in the play. Among the additional cast members who had significant portions of song and or dance to perform as small choir groups were;
  • The Narrators; Luc Levesque, Val Glaister, Amy Bodak, ALana Zadwoski, Luc B and Tara W.
  • Guards; Spencer Reukel, Davey Gillman, Shawn, Cory, Edward, Nathan, Skiyler Haliski, Mackenzie Robinson, Kaleb, Armand, Jeff and Zack
  • Harem Girls; Felicity, Nancy, Kasandra, Aja, Mackenzie R and Hunter
and of course while very unique and memorable performances were given by the entire cast the Magic Carpet, controlled by Tristan Olivera, Justin Gervais and Dally Baril was especially magical,  while princes: Jaden Bourgeois (Baba of Ganoush), Talon Reddick (Dahdu Rahn-Rahn) and Adam Jackson (Prince formerly known as “The Artist”) had attendees roaring with laughter in their seats!
Congratulations and a big thank you to all the actors/actresses for their commitment and wonderfully entertaining performance and to all the volunteers, teachers and parents who gave so generously of their time, effort and talents to ensure the each of the 4 shows was an incredible, 1st class theatre experience for every audience which attended.
