OPP INVESTIGATE BOATING COLLISION ON LAKE SUPERIOR

NIPIGON, ON – June 8, 2013 at approximately 12:11 p.m. members of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Nipigon Detachment, responded to a single small vessel collision on Lake Superior near Red Rock, ON. The driver of the vessel struck a reef near St. Ignace Island. The vessel sustained major damage.

A 37 year old male from Thunder Bay was airlifted to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with life threatening injuries.

A 47 year old male and a 15 year old male from Toronto were treated and released from Nipigon Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation continues.
