There are five new releases this week. Let’s have a look at each title in more detail;

NEW RELEASES ON DVD & BLU-RAY

Absolute Deception: starring Cuba Gooding Jr.– A widowed reporter recruits the help of a federal agent to investigate her late husband’s secrets, but the two unwittingly become the target of unknown attackers. (Thriller) (DVD)

Freeloaders: starring Olivia Munn and Clifton Collins Jr. – A group of slackers who are living for free in a rock star’s mansion find their sweet lives threatened when the musician decides to put his house up for sale. (Comedy) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Wiener Dog Nationals: starring Alicia Witt – A family adopts a puppy from the pound with the intentions of entering her into the nation’s most renowned wiener dog race! (Family) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Saige Paints the Sky: starring Sidney Fullmer – Nine year old Saige is excited for the upcoming school year until she learns that her favorite subject- art- has been cut from the curriculum. Saige turns to her Grandma Mimi who suggests that she take action and fight to save her favorite class. (Family) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Captive: starring Eric Breker – A detective wanted for murder kidnaps a skilled journalist and holds him captive for a night in a race to reveal and destroy the corruption that’s plaguing his city. (Action) (DVD)

FOR THE GAMERS

Nothing new this week, but we continue to hear rave reviews about the new Playstation 3 hit- “The Last of Us”. In fact, this game has been so popular that we are having a hard time keeping it on our shelves! IGN, a respected video game review website, gives “The Last of Us” a perfect 10/10 rating classifying it as a masterpiece- a feat rarely accomplished in the video game industry. We are taking orders for this game so stop by and check out why it has the critics and gamers buzzing!

Hard to believe that another month has already come and gone! Here is a look at what people were renting in June:

SUMMERFEST: Gaming Day Wrap-Up

Summerfest activities were in full this over the weekend here in Marathon. On Saturday, kids of all ages flocked to Marathon Theatre for a chance to play Nintendo Wii-U on the huge theatre screen! This event, presented by Crossover Video and Games and Marathon Theatre, was a big success! An estimated 50 kids were in attendance while players tested a variety of games with “Sing Party” being the popular game of choice. A number of brave kids rocked the microphone singing some of today’s biggest musical hits while the lyrics played across the theatre screen. Thanks to a generous donation by the Metis Association of Ontario, ten lucky kids won prizes just for being in attendance! On behalf of Nancy Ryan (owner of Marathon Theatre) and myself, thank you to the Metis Association of Ontario and to all the kids who attended for making this event a smashing success!
