LOCAL MALE CHARGED WITH POSSESION OF COCAINE

MARATHON ON – Thursday July 11, 2013 officers from the Marathon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information that a quantity of illegal drugs was being brought into Marathon for distribution.

At 8:20 pm OPP officers stopped a black Dodge Avenger on Peninsula Road in the Town of Marathon.

Police detained the lone male occupant and removed the driver from the vehicle. When the officer was speaking to the male, he observed a clear plastic bag containing white powdery substance sticking out of the zipper of the man’s pants. The male was immediately arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Marathon OPP detachment.

Gary BURSEY, 31, from Marathon ON was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and released from custody with a Promise to Appear in Marathon court on September 12, 2013. Approximately 58 grams of cocaine was seized, with an estimated street value of approximately $5800.00.
