Midway Coming to Terrace Bay

Midway Carnival Coming to Terrace Bay

TERRACE BAY, ON – The Township of Terrace Bay is always striving to provide as much entertainment to its residents, and visitors to the community, as possible.  With this in mind, the township reached out to Canuck Amusements from Winnipeg late last year to see if they would be interested in setting up a Midway Carnival in Terrace Bay.  The plan was quickly developed and the company was able to fit Terrace Bay into its travel route for August 30-September 1, 2013.

The Carnival will be located in Simcoe Plaza with the street being shut down from beside Wah’s Restaurant to the Community Church from August 29th to September 2nd due to the need for a day of setup and takedown.  Municipal Staff pre-tested the idea on the affected business owners earlier this year and there was unanimous support for the event.   Terrace Bay last hosted the Midway in the Summer of 1997 and the feedback from residents after the success of the Lighthouse Street Festival is that a Midway Carnival would be the next great experience for the region.  The list of rides (subject to change) for the event include:

  • Zipper,
  • Spider,
  • Sizzler,
  • Sky Master,
  • Tornado,
  • Mardi Gras,
  • Sea Ray,
  • 3 kiddie rides,
  • 100 foot super slide,
  • 5 carnival style game trailers,
  • food trailers.

Some of the businesses in the downtown will also be offering specials and sidewalk sales during the Carnival.  For more information, visit www.terracebay.ca/midway.
