CROSSOVER INSIDER : TYLER TALKS

Very few brands have enjoyed the longevity and staying power as G.I. Joe. In 1964, Hasbro introduced a line of plastic toys that took the world by storm. Every household with children had G.I. Joes strewn across the floor while kids played and traded figures with their friends. Of course, these toys were inspired by a comic strip that dates back to the 1940’s. Fast forward 70 years and the G.I. Joe name is still going strong with its second feature film set to on DVD and Blu-Ray this week. Titled “Retaliation”, the latest installment of G.I. Joe stars Dwayne Johnson and is our headline title for the week.

After a series of downward events, the man takes things into his own hands by seeking revenge against the wealthy businessmen who control Wall Street. (Suspense/Drama) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Between Us: starring Julia Stiles and Taye Diggs – Two couples reunite over the course of two evenings where anything can happen in this comedic story of best friends, marriage, love, disappointment and dreams. (Comedy/Drama) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Filly Brown: starring Gina Rodriguez and Lou Diamond Phillips – A promising hip-hop artist from Los Angeles finds herself at a crossroads when a record producer offers her a compromising shot at stardom. (Drama) (DVD)

Demented: starring Sarah Butler – Six college meet for a weekend getaway and find themselves fighting for their lives after a terrorist attack turns the local residents into zombies. (Horror) (DVD and Blu-Ray)

One thing that has set us apart since the day we’ve opened is our huge selection of unique and retro candy. We carry the kinds of candy that you can’t find at most stores in Canada. With retro candy and candy from countries such as Britain, Japan and USA, we love hearing the reactions from our customers. We continue to add new and exciting candy products to our lineup. M&M Chocolate Bar – The hugely popular M&M brand has a new chocolate bar! Delicious milk chocolate with M&M’s inside! We’ve only carried this bar for a couple weeks and we’ve almost sold a full case already!

Reese’s Fast Break – Another popular brand in North America, Reese’s is best known for their Peanut Butter Cups. To go along with one of our top sellers- the White Chocolate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, we’ve added another new and unusual Reese’s item to our inventory. “Fast Break” is milk chocolate filled with peanut butter on top of a layer of chewy nougat.

Bazooka Wallet Packs – One of our top selling gums is the classic original Bazooka- individually wrapped with mini comic strips. Now, Bazooka has a cool new product and we’ve got it! They’re called wallet packs because they fold open and closed- just like a wallet. They feature 2 flavors- original and Blue Raspberry- and promise a longer lasting flavor.

Puccho – We’ve been selling Japanese candy for a while now, but the UHA Puccho has outperformed all other Japanese brands. These delicious chewy candy’s have tiny gumdrops inside and come in a wide variety of flavors including; Melon Soda Float, Green Apple, Cola, Cream Soda and so many more! I’ve tried a number of different flavors myself and have yet to be disappointed. Not many people can say that they’ve tasted candy from Japan- stop in and become one of them!

Manitouwadge’s own jack of all trades, 2 Doors Down owner Jim Moffat, is also a wholesale distributor for Jack Links Beef Jerky. With our existing business partnership, it seemed like a natural fit for Crossover to start selling Jack Links Beef Jerky and Pepperettes. VACATION TIME : TYLER’S TRAVELS

It’s that time of the year- time for me to pack my bags and take the 15 hour journey to the friendly little village of St.Lazare, Manitoba- home to several members of my family. My vacation will not interrupt business activities at Crossover as we will still be open and ready to serve you. This will mean, however, that there will be no Crossover Insider next week.
