TYLER’s TAKE

Imagine this – three steroid filled body builders kidnap a man and outsmart him of out of millions of dollars in cash and belongings. They then run the man over with their car, leaving him for dead – only he’s not dead, he’s still very much alive (although slightly mangled) and wants his revenge. Sound farfetched? Well it’s not – it’s a true story! Mark Wahlberg stars as Daniel Lugo, the mastermind behind this unlikely plot in this week’s new release “Pain and Gain”.

There are nine new releases in total this week; here is a brief synopsis for each;

Pain and Gain: starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – A group of bodybuilders kidnap a wealthy businessman with the intentions of stealing everything he owns. Mud: starring Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan and Reese Witherspoon- Two boys find a wanted man living in a boat in a tree. As they form an unlikely friendship, the boys agree to help the man avoid the authorities in an attempt to reconnect him with his true love. The Great Gatsby: starring Leonardo DiCaprio – A Midwestern war veteran finds himself drawn to the past and lifestyle of his millionaire neighbor but soon discovers that the life that he leads is not as glamorous as it may appear. At Any Price: starring Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron – A family farming business is threatened after authorities are alerted to potential unlawful business tactics- which causes further tension in the already strained family dynamic. Colony: starring Lawrence Fishburne and Kevin Zegers – After being forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling group of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat that they never saw coming. Still Mine: starring James Cromwell – An elderly man, determined to build a new house for his ailing wife, faces off against the authorities over building code violations in his hometown in New Brunswick. (Drama) (DVD)

Street Wars: starring Steven Seagal – A detective and his team race against the clock to discover the persons responsible for a deadly new pill claiming the lives of dozens of teens in Seattle. (Action) (DVD) Trailer not available/

Shadow Dancer: starring Clive Owen and Andrea Riseborough – After a terrorist attempt goes wrong, a young mother is faced with the daunting decision of going to jail or turning spy against her family. (Drama) (DVD)

FOR THE GAMERS

Lost Planet 3: Long before the events of the first game in the series, the planet is still in an ice age and Jim Peyton is working hard mining the planet to send materials back to earth, where his family awaits him. As his mission progresses, Jim discovers that his company, Nevec, has dark intentions and it is up to him to do something to stop them before it’s too late. Available to rent and buy for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Madden 25: As the NFL season quickly approaches, it’s time for the annual installment of Madden. This year’s version features improved graphics and gameplay and an even more detailed career mode which gives owners the chance to move their teams to non NFL cities like Toronto or London.
