TYLER TALKS – Hockey Fans & Trekkies This Is Your Week
Hockey fans rejoice– this is the week you’ve been waiting for! NHL 14 makes it’s long anticipated debut for PS3 and XBOX 360 this week. With the NHL season right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get prepared by playing the video game version against your friends. More on NHL 14 later on in this article.
For now, let’s focus on this week’s new movie releases. Trekkies will be pleased to learn that the newest installment in the Star Trek franchise hits the shelves this week! Titled “Into the Darkness”, the newest Star Trek movie once again stars Chris Pine in the leading role.
There are a total of nine new movies this week, with a brief description of each below;

Star Trek Into Darkness: starring Chris Pine – After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a quest to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. Blood: starring Paul Bettany and Brian Cox- Two brother detectives are assigned to investigate a brutal murder. With the suspect in custody, they must fight for a confession to close their case and to prevent some unwanted secrets from surfacing. Into the White: starring Rupert Grint- A group of British and German soldiers find themselves stranded in the wilderness after an aircraft battle. Seeking shelter in the same cabin, they realize that they must place the rules of war aside and work as allies in order to survive the harsh winter. (War/Drama) (DVD and Blu-Ray)
Peeples: starring Craig Robinson and Kerry Washington – Sparks fly when a man crashes the Peeples annual family reunion in the Hamptons to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage. (Comedy) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Lesser Blessed: starring Benjamin Bratt – A young First Nations boy must face the demons of his past, while struggling to adjust to life in his new hometown. (Drama) (DVD)
Love is all You Need: starring Pierce Brosnan- A cancer patient learns that her husband has been having an affair prompting her to fly to Italy for her daughter’s wedding. While there, she meets and forms a relationship with a recently widowed man. (Romance/Drama) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Magic Puppy– A girl casts a magic spell as a surprise for her friend, but it all goes wrong and turns his mother’s boyfriend into a puppy. Now the friends must try to reverse the effects of the spell before everyone finds out. (Family) (DVD) Trailer not available
Reluctant Fundamentalist: starring Kiefer Sutherland, Live Schreiber and Kate Hudson– A successful young Wall Street businessman from Pakistan finds himself in conflict when the 9/11 crisis forces him to choose between the call of his homeland or living the American dream. Wish You Were Here: starring Joel Edgerton and Teresa Palmer– Four friends escape to South-East Asia for a carefree vacation. But when only three of them return home, family members return to the scene of the holiday desperate for answers about the missing man. (Drama) (DVD)
