Marathon Team Defends Its Title Claiming the 2013-14 NSSSAA Golf Championships

NIPIGON, ON – 52 golfers competed at the Northshore Secondary School Athletic Association (NSSSAA) 2013-14 Golf Championships this week hosted by Nipigon-Red Rock District High School at the North Shore golf Course.

Four lowest of 5 scores make up team total. Top 3 teams are advancing to NWOSSA in Geraldton next Thursday, September 26. Play was called due to weather after 14 holes so the scores below are 9-hole totals for the 4 person team, not 18 hole totals.

Marathon High School defended their title with a winning team score of 185; in second: Nipigon-Red Rock District High School with 198  and third place was claimed by École Secondaire L”Orée de Bois from Dubreuilville with 204.

Frank Desmoulins won the gold medal for lowest individual male with 38 while  Krista Leach took the lowest individual female gold with 76.

The lowest five individuals not on qualifying teams also advance to NWOSSAA, they are:

  • Frank Desmoulin, Migizi Miigwanan Secondary School
  • Brad Wilson, Lake Superior High School
  • Ben Kurish, Geraldton Composite High School
  • Jeremy Newton, Manitouwadge High School
  • Nathan Keough, Manitouwadge High School
