5 Torontonians Transported To Hospital After Single MVC: Vehicle Left Roadway, Struck Rock Cut

HIGHWAY 17 MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

SCHREIBER, ON – October 11, 2013 at approximately 7:45 a.m. members of the Schreiber Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, Township of Schreiber.  The driver of a westbound motor vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a rock cut on the north side of the highway.  The Highway 17 was closed to both east and west bound traffic for approximately 30 minutes and then opened to one lane at the scene of the collision for most of the day while officers conducted an investigation.

The driver and four passengers of Toronto, Ontario were transported by ambulance to the hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.  The 41 year old male driver and three passengers were treated and released.  A 38 year old female passenger remains in the hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

Officers continue to investigate the cause of the collision, charges are pending.
