Superior North EMS Visit Youngest At MPS

Children who have been previously familiarized with emergency services equipment, whether it belongs EMS, the Fire Department or Law Enforcement, can be more easily calmed - and helped, when an emergency situation occurs as fear of the unknown does not add to the trauma of the situation. Photo MPS

MANITOUWADGE, ON – It’s never fun to have a ‘bo bo’ but recently it was fun to have a pretend one in the JK/SK/Grade 1 class at Manitouwadge Public School.

Our littlest ones were given a very valuable insight into what would go on if they ever had need of an ambulance.  Two members of the Manitouwadge Superior North EMS team came to class with the equipment, and their invaluable expertise, that goes with their important positions.  The students were given medical attention for fictional ailments and injuries, providing the opportunity for them to become familiar and very comfortable with the ambulance crew should they, or a loved one, ever require emergency transport.

We certainly hope that none of our children ever have need of an ambulance but making it a fun learning experience where they could explore and understand, in the reassuring and familiar classroom environment, will make it is less traumatic if they do.  A big Thank You  to the EMS personnel for taking time out of their busy schedule to visit our students and teach them to be comfortable with another one of the many experiences they might have to face in life.
