Freezing rain warning for Wawa – Pukaskwa Park – White River – Dubreuilville

3:30 PM EST Wednesday 04 December 2013

Freezing rain tonight.

A strengthening low pressure system over Iowa this afternoon will track northeast to reach Lake Superior tonight and James Bay Thursday evening. An area of snow and ice pellets ahead of the low is moving into Northeastern Ontario today and will transition to freezing rain as the system advances north. The band of freezing rain is expected over the Searchmont – North Bay corridor later this afternoon and push north to reach Chapleau – Kirkland Lake this evening and the Timmins area after midnight. A few hours of freezing rain are possible before temperatures rise above zero and a change to rain occurs.

Motorists should be prepared for hazardous winter driving conditions as untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery.

Environment Canada meteorologists continue to monitor the evolution of this system closely and will update warnings as required.
