Terrace Bay Doctor Recognized
Dr. Annabella Zawada was recently recognized with a Top 20 Under 40 award at the 2nd NOVA awards in Thunder Bay on January 18, 2014. The event, hosted by the SHIFT Network, Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and NOACC, had 72 nominees for the awards as Northern Ontario Visionaries with 20 being recognized from Thunder Bay and throughout the region. Dr. Zawada was nominated by her fellow medical clinic staff and was recognized for her impact on healthcare in the region as a Family Physician, previous Chief of Staff at The McCausland Hospital, Coroner, and Assistant Professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. She was also thanked for her impact in the community with donations to various local causes and volunteering with the local daycare and at the Green Tradeshow event. Dr. Zawada is the second resident from Terrace Bay to win the award as her husband Sean Irwin (pictured) also won the award in 2012. Other regional NOVA winners this year included Daryl Skworchinski of Marathon.
