The Marathon Joint Review Panel (the Panel) would like to draw your attention to two letters posted on the public registry:
- A letter from the Lake Superior Binational Forum, Environment North, Northwatch and MiningWatch Canada dated January 27/14, expressing concern regarding recent comments made by Stillwater Canada Inc. on the company’s plans for the Marathon PGM-Cu Mine project (the Project) over the next three years, including a “strategic review” being undertaken for the Project and the preparation of an updated feasibility study. The letter requests that the Panel consider delaying the start of the hearings. The letter is available at http://www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca/050/documents/p54755/98192E.pdf.
- A letter from the Panel to Stillwater Canada Inc. dated January 29/14 requesting that Stillwater inform the Panel of their views regarding the concerns raised in the January 27/14 letter. The deadline for Stillwater to provide its response is 12:00 pm EST on Friday January 31/14. The letter is available at http://www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca/050/documents/p54755/98194E.pdf.
Interested parties are invited to review these two letters, and Stillwater’s response, which will be posted by the end of the day on Friday, and provide their views on this issue to the Panel. Any comments from interested parties must be received by 12:00 pm ET on Monday, February 3/14. Comments should be sent electronically to MarathonMine.Review@ceaa-acee.gc.ca.
