MANITOUWADGE, ON – January 27th was another very buzzing kind of day at Manitouwadge Public School. Our students and staff were celebrating Family Literacy Day in the extreme!
In the morning all the students met in the library where they dispersed into assigned groups. It’s always much more fun to ‘learn’ with friends and especially rewarding when you are part of a group that teaches each other. Among the Family Literacy Day activities the groups enjoyed were: synonym matching; sausage poems; tongue twisters; sequence pictures / story writing; boggle.
After the morning learning exercises, our students and staff were treated to a delicious spaghetti lunch – compliments of MPS Parent Council. The Literacy fun continued into the afternoon with pre-Olympic activities where the groups were assigned a ‘Country’ theme. Not only did they gather and share many important facts about their assigned country , they are now filled with the Olympic spirit for February!
