MANITOUWADGE, ON – Recently MPS students and staff took part in a “Take me Outside Day“.  The initiative is organized by www.TakeMeOutside.ca  in partnership with the David Suzuki Foundation and the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada. It  is a chance for schools across Canada, and around the world, to recognize the importance of getting outside and supports the idea of extending the classroom beyond the school building.

Though the weatherman didn’t cooperate and sent us a wet and snowy day, our brave young individuals did go out for a short while.  But so as not to be deterred, they then moved inside to our gymnasium to finish up the planned activities. The students were put into mixed grade groupings  of ‘young and old’ students working together towards team building, leadership and organization skills. The spectacular creations that resulted were used as centerpieces at the recent Spaghetti Lunch (Click for article/photos) put on by the MPS Parent Council.
