Rainbow Falls Fishing Day Around The Corner

TERRACE BAY, ON –  The Nipigon District MNR will be hosting the 8th Annual Bass Blast on Saturday, July 4

Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Nipigon District, the event will take place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on the East Beach of Rainbow Falls Provincial Park.

Participants can look forward to all sorts of fishing fun and games, a BBQ lunch, giveaways, and prizes for the kids. Anglers are asked to bring their own fishing gear, including a personal flotation device. However, there will be free bait and a limited number of rods, reels and PFDs to borrow on a first-come-first-serve basis. Parents may bring their own boats to enjoy the sights and get to those harder to reach fishing holes in Whitesand Lake, Rainbow Falls has a limited number of canoes and other personal watercraft available for rent.

The Bass Blast focuses on having fun while fishing and is not a competitive event. This year the grand prizes will be given randomly to children who participate in the Minnow Races. Both OPP and Conservation Officers will be on hand throughout the day to assist wherever they are needed.

This event is part of the Canada-wide celebration, National Fishing Week, July 4 through 12. To learn more, visit www.catchfishing.com.

Also July 4 to 12: the annual Ontario Family Fishing Week. For one full week, Canadian residents can enjoy the fun of fishing in Ontario without the need of a licence!
