The Lexus Circle, a sort of ‘hoverboard’, released earlier this year to much fanfare has nothing on a Canadian inventor’s newest creation.  The Circle’s hype was soon followed by fan-disappointment as hopeful would-be hoverboard riders learned of the board and riding surface, which include very expensive maglev technology as well as a combination of superconductors, magnets and liquid nitrogen, inaccessible price tags. In contrast, watching video of Alexandru Duru’s lightweight hovercraft, one can easily imagine how continued development of the device could result in a retail-friendly version of the device in the not-to-distant future.

Duru’s company, Omni Hovercraft Inc., has gained investors and worldwide attention as is shared in the story by CBC’s The National in the video above.
