Greenstone OPP Update: Suspect Arrested Thanks to Public Assistance

GREENSTONE, ON The Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to thank its media partners and members of the public for their assistance in identifying a suspect in a sting of break and enters at the municipality’s Evac Centre, a storage building located at 306 First Avenue NW in Geraldton.

This building had been broken into several times in the previous months resulting in damage to the building and the theft of various items. In an effort solve these offences police reached out to the media and the public, seeking to identify a then unknown male pictured in surveillance photos.

As a result of police investigation and public assistance [edited by ONN],an individual age 18, of Geraldton, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
  • Two counts of Breaking, Entering and Committing an Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
  • He will appear in court on June 7, 2018, at 10:00 am, in Geraldton, Ontario, to answer to the charges.
