NIPIGON, ON – Union Gas is proud to support Nipigon Volunteer Fire Department with a $1,500 grant to enhance firefighter communications.

“At Union Gas, we relentlessly ensure the safety of our communities, customers, contractors, partners and employees,” said John Gould, supervisor utility services, Union Gas. “Because of our safety culture, we make it a priority to support our local volunteer firefighters, helping to ensure their safety as they serve the community.”

The grant money will be going to enhance the departments communication system by providing the capability of a private radio channel for use in emergency situations.

“The Nipigon Volunteer Fire Department, its members and the Township of Nipigon would like to thank Union Gas for their very kind and generous donation towards the upgrading and improving the radio communications equipment used by the Nipigon Volunteer Department,” said Jim Keay, fire chief, Nipigon Fire Department. “This will assist in the Nipigon Volunteer Department’s initiative in providing essential emergency services to residents of the Township of Nipigon and surrounding area.”
