Basketball Gold for OLOL Girls and Margaret Twomey Boys Teams

MANITOUWADGE, ON – Recently, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School hosted their annual invitational basketball tournament at the Manitouwadge High School. Girls’, boys and mixed teams from Manitouwadge, Marathon and Biigtigong Nishnaabeg participated in the tournament organized and hosted by Our Lady of Lourdes School at the Manitouwadge High School gymnasium.

The bleachers were filled with the teams’ family, friends and classmates who were treated to an action filled day of basketball.

Medals were presented by the tournament organizers,
Lise Foucault-Clark and Karly Baker, to the first, second and third place boys teams (incl. mixed teams) and girls teams respectively. Mrs. Foucault-Clark and Mrs. Baker also provided the coaches of each of the winning teams with a medal for the MVP of their choice.

Our Lady of Lourdes Girls’ team claimed first place with Riley Clark being named MVP. Margaret Twomey Public School (Marathon) and EPFM (Manitouwadge) earned 2nd and 3rd place respectively among the girls’ teams.

The boys’ teams saw Margaret Twomey Public School (Marathon) play hard to take 1st, while Our Lady of Lourdes and Pic River Elementary’s Mixed Team (Biigtigong Nishnaabeg) earned 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Congratulations to all the athletes who participated in the tournament for their efforts and sportsmanship throughout the day! In addition to Mrs. Foucault-Clark and Mrs. Baker, it’s also important to recognize all the coaches, volunteers and parents who gave their time during the weeks of preparation and on the day to ensure the tournament was a success.
