MANITOUWADGE, ON – Support Staff from Superior-Greenstone District School Board’s elementary and secondary schools in Manitouwadge took their picketing downtown yesterday (Thursday, November 28, 2019) to share their concerns with the public regards to what they describe as the Ford Gov’t forcing the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF)’s into a Legal Strike Position.

The three were handing out flyers encouraging parents to contact their MPP (for Manitouwadge residents this is NDP MPP Michael Mantha) and School Trustees and provided links for the action items listed below (click to visit sites):

The flyers also described their main concerns as being:

  1. Class sizes that support learning and do not jeopardize your child’s safety.
  2. Full access to programming and courses that gives your children opportunities for their future.
  3. Specialized professional supports for any children with special needs.
  4. A safe, equitable and supportive learning environment for your child.
  5. Reasonable and fair compensation that matches the rate of inflation.
