MOE 10th Annual Family Ice-Fishing Derby

MANITOUWADGE, ON – Sunday, February 16th, 2020 the Manitouwadge Outdoor Enthusiasts hosted their 10th Annual Frosty Days Family Fish Derby. The derby is held every year in conjuction with Ontario’s Winter Family Fishing Weekend* when Canadian residents need not buy a licence to fish in Ontario.

The Derby was a great success with more than 70 registered participants enjoy a day of ice fishing on Lake Manitouwadge. Manitouwadge Public School Parents’ Council held a fundraising BBQ on Lions’ Beach helping to keep anglers and visitors fueled throughout the event.

The day wrapped up with MOE volunteers Tara Balog, Tiffany Lidster and James Lidster addressing those in attendance to share their thanks before giving out prizes (scroll down for video). Every young person registered received a certificate and prize with the following Top 3 Young Anglers being recognized with additional prizes:

  • Biggest Pike (29 inch): Payton
  • Largest Pickerel (12.5inch): Kylie
  • Biggest Perch (10 inch): Marissa

Finally all adults registered for the event were entered into a draw for one of three door prizes.
