CHARGES LAID IN BREAK AND ENTER INVESTIGATION

GERALDTON, ON – On Monday December 7, 2020, members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter to a commercial property in Geraldton, ON.

An investigation by uniformed members led to the quick I.D. of the accused.

That afternoon, members of the Greenstone OPP along with the North West Region Crime Unit executed an arrest warrant at a Geraldton residence, where the accused was taken into custody.

[Edited by ONN] An individual, 21 years-old of Geraldton, Ontario has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Break and Enter contrary to section 348(1)(b)
  • Theft under $5000 contrary to section 334(b)
  • Fail to Comply with Judicial Release Order contrary to section 145(5)(a)
  • Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1)
  • Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1)

While executing the warrant, police located a second individual inside the residence who was wanted on outstanding charges. He was also taken into custody.

  • Fail to Comply with Judicial Release Order contrary to section 145(5)(a)
  • Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1)

Both accused made a brief court appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Tuesday December 8, 2020 by video and were remanded into custody.
