Dilico Anishnabek Facilitates Social Emotional Learning for Superior North Catholic DSB Students

MARATHON, ON – March 3, 2021, the Superior North Catholic District School Board in partnership with Dilico Anishinabek Family Care offered Social Emotional Learning to our classrooms in grades 1-4.

Four classrooms throughout the board participate in the activity connecting classrooms together from Nipigon, Marathon and Manitouwadge. Jenna and her colleagues Katelin and Jill hosted a virtual activity based on the movie, Inside Out. Students explored emotions like joy, sadness, anger, fear, and disgust. After each emotion was discussed students were provided with a chance to share their thinking and place where they feel and experience these emotions on a personal worksheet. Students were so proud to share and fun was had by all while exploring the many emotions we experience and the functions they serve.

The Superior North Catholic District School Board wishes to express our thanks and gratitude to our classrooms who joined, and the team at Dilico Anishinabek Family Care for engaging our students and educators and working alongside us all to support Social Emotional Learning with the board.
