OPP Respond to Daytime Break and Enter

Accused located hiding in bushes and arrested for property offences

LONGLAC, ON – On Sunday April 18, 2021, at approximately 10:20am, members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence on Riverview Street in Longlac, ON.

The accused forced entry to a garage on the property and stole several items. The accused was located hiding in the bush area near the property by a neighbour, prior to police arrival. Police arrived on scene and took the accused into custody without incident.

Kathleen STEPHENSON, 27 years-old of Longlac, ON has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break and Enter a place contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Mischief under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code

 The accused made a brief court appearance by video at the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on April 19, 2021 and was released from custody on a Judicial Release Order to a future court date.
