MARATHON, ON – June 14, 2021 Town of Marathon representatives, Mayor Rick Dumas, Councillor Ray Lake and Councillor Greg Vallance, accompanied St. John’s United Church Pastor Selina Mullin to raise the Pride Flag at Town Hall. This was a historic first for the town thanks in part to resident Barb McGill who purchased the flag and filled out the necessary paperwork to have the flag raised.

At a council meeting on the same day, Councillor Vallance noted that the flag raising was in line with the Town’s “Respect Campaign” [details of the initiative can be read on the town website by CLICKING HERE].

On their Facebook Page, St. John’s United Church said:

“We’re celebrating Pride Month in our town by raising the Pride Flag for the first time ever at town hall. Big shout out to Mayor Rick Dumas, Councillors Ray Lake and Greg Vallance as well as resident Barb McGill for making the request to council.”
