Forest Fire Update for Northeast & Northwest Regions

Forest fire fighting equipment has been provided to Ontario from Quebec, New Brunswick and Alberta.

Regional fire situations: September 5, 2021 (*please note that the next update will be published tomorrow, Tuesday, September 7)

Northeast region

  • One new wildland fire was confirmed in the Northeast region by late afternoon.
    • Sault Ste Marie 2 is not yet under control at 0.1 of a hectare. It is located on the south side of Robertson Lake road near Karalash Corner.
  • There are currently eight other active fires in the region. Six of these are being observed and two are under control.
  • The fire hazard is low across the Northeast Region this afternoon.

Northwest region

  • No new fires were discovered in the northwest region by the late afternoon of September 5
  • At the time of this update there were 72 active fires in the northwest region. Three fires were not under control, one fire was being held, 10 fires were under control and 58 fires were being observed.
  • The fire hazard is low to moderate across the region.
