OPP LAYS CHARGES FOLLOWING FAMILY DISPUTE

WAWA, ON – On February 1, 2022, at approximately 4:55 p.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute on Michipicoten First Nation.  

As a result of the investigation, [Edited by ONN] a woman, 23 years-of-age, of Wawa was arrested and charged with the following:  

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC,
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC, and
  • Mischief, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC. 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 7, 2022, in Wawa.
