Biigtigong Nishnaabeg and Town of Marathon to Develop Commercial Port on Peninsula Harbour
Biigtigong Nishnaabeg/Marathon, ON: – Biigtigong Nishnaabeg and the Town of Marathon have signed a legally binding Shareholder Agreement to establish the Peninsula Harbour Port Authority Corporation. The execution and delivery of this Agreement formalizes the establishment, creation, and operation of a commercial Port Authority on Peninsula Harbour that will create new employment and economic development opportunities by servicing regional mining, forestry, logistics, and manufacturing industries while respecting the environment and Lake Superior.

The Peninsula Harbour Port Authority Corporation is a 50/50 joint venture between the communities and the inaugural Board of Directors for the Corporation has been selected and will include Chief Duncan Michano and Juanita Starr, Director of Sustainable Development, from Biigtigong Nishnaabeg and Mayor Rick Dumas and Daryl Skworchinski, Chief Administrative Officer, from the Town of Marathon.
