Imagination, play & crafts

sabere-1-4Lloyd had rented the newest Star Wars flick to watch with his sister during the afternoon as he was still feeling fatigued from strep throatand wanted her to enjoy doing something out of the ordinary during the March Break.  This got her to thinking about the light saber she had from Halloween 2006 but I explained to her that it was either packed away with the Halloween decorations in the basement or packed away with our camping gear (she had dressed up as Yoda during our month at White Lake this past summer and used the light saber as a flashlight when we went to the group campfires) but either way it was inaccessible. Lloyd, seeing her dissapointed, was quick to grab an empty celophane tube, colour the better part of it orange and pass her a new light saber 🙂 it was wonderful to see him so quick to fix the problem wanting to spare her any sadness (I love when he does things like that and it is not at all rare) she loved it and I was immediately attacked lol.

Later the 3 of us were going to the park to play hide-and-go-seek and Emeraude said ‘star wars’ as well. Lloyd, made her feel really special, pulling her real light saber of the closet where he had hidden it while we were gone to the store after having searched the camper to find it. She was tickled!

We got dressed in some pretty light clothes (I didn’t even bother with skisabere-1-3 pants and Lloyd had no gloves) as the sun was still shining and jumped in the van to head out to the beach playground. When we arrived it didn’t take long to realize that it was very windy and too cold for any fun so we decided to try the public school park and drove their. Well, same thing, Lloyd helped us over the icy snow banks and we had just reached the equipment when Emeraude said her cheeks were cold and we realized this would not work out any better :(. We were starting to get a little discouraged as the kids had both brought the skateboards (there was too much ice at the beach playground and now way too much sand on the pavement where we were) and Lloyd had postponed plans with his friends wanting to give Emeraude a special ‘family’ outing (she loves when the 3 of us have excursions together) and it was now 6h15 only 45 minutes before his friend Robin was expecting him…

We decided to play Star Wars & hide-and-go-seek at the house and try to make the best of what was left of the night. It was a BLAST! Emeraude announced that we would play in teams and she & Lloyd were Jedi; Silver & I were droids. We chased each other around the main floor (which thankfully isn’t very big) mostly having saber duels, it was neat. When hide and seek time came she & Lloyd again were a team against me, we were having so much fun that when Lloyd had to leave, Emeraude and I continued to play.

the gallery below has photos of Emeraude upgrading her light saber. It held up really well during our duels with none of her additions coming loose and just a minimal amount of artificial snow falling when she struck me with the saber.
