Manitouwadge receives funding and support from provincial government

Township dignitaries and constituents from Manitouwadge gathered over lunch Tuesday during Algoma-Manitoulin MPP, Mike Brown’s visit to Manitouwadge to share ideas and concerns for their community which continues to be challenged by shut downs in the forestry sector and slows in tourism. Brown, accompanied by executive assistant Wendy Ground, welcomed input from those in attendance regarding which programs and services in Manitouwadge are most in need of provincial support and offered counsel on how they might successfully apply for assistance.

Mayor John MacEachern thanked Brown on behalf of the community for his continued diligence in acquiring funds from the Provincial government for infrastructure projects in Manitouwadge; more specifically for moneys in excess of $140,000 to improve the management of the community’s drinking water system and a $100,000 contribution to their airport project. “These much needed improvements will have a significant impact on families in Manitouwadge and I am pleased that the McGuinty Government is making these contributions to municipalities in our riding.” said Brown.

Afterwards, Brown held chambers at the township where other constituents had opportunity to bring forward questions and comments before he continued on to Hornepayne.
