Hornepayne Town Centre Closing…

HUGHES TO JOIN HORNEPAYNE MAYOR AND COUNCIL AT PUBLIC MEETING

Elliot Lake Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP,  Carol Hughes will be attending a public meeting organized by the town of Hornepayne at 7:00 pm this coming Sunday evening (April 18, 2010).  The subject of the meeting is impending closure of the Town Centre

The Centre, which is set to close at the end of September 2010, houses 37 apartments, in a community where the vacancy rate is almost non-existent.  The centre also contains the town’s only high school, hotel, public pool, library, gymnasium and weight training facility, the only chartered bank,  the post office, the LCBO, as well as several other businesses and offices; including governmental offices that provide much needed services to this community.

“The situation is of dire importance and we have to deal with this immediately,” said Hughes.  “It is imperative the provincial and federal government assist the township of Hornepayne in dealing with this critical situation.

The meeting will take place in the gymnasium at the Town Centre at 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 18th, 2010.  All are welcome.
